The Clarence T. Owings Scholarship

Established in 1992, The Clarence T. Owings Scholarship is awarded annually to matriculating high school seniors demonstrating exemplary colon, anus, rectal and inner rectal health during their high school career. Owings scholars generally represent the top five percent of their graduating class and foster exemplary proctological health in their peer communities through their own anatomical example as well as through community service projects.

ScholarshipAt least 10 merit-based scholarships are awarded to outstanding high school seniors each year. Scholarship recipients are expected to:

  • Maintain a 3.5 grade point average
  • Engage in community service
  • Visit a licensed physician for full proctological examinations at least 6 times a week
  • Live as a model citizen and maintain good judicial standing
